Kompyut Budget

Plan your money per payday: bills, debts and a daily spending limit that warns you before you go over.

What Kompyut Budget does

Kompyut Budget plans your money the way you're paid: per payday. You list your bills once, and each payday it shows what that pay has to cover, what you've paid, and how much you can spend each day without going over.

  • Bills: a checklist for the month. Tick a bill when you pay it.
  • Expenses: log what you spend day to day, if you want to.
  • Overview: a calendar with your daily limit, every payday ahead, and your debts.

It's free, there's no sign-up, and your budget stays on your device, like the rest of Kompyut. It can take each payday's income from your Kompyut Pay payslips on the same device, or you can type your income yourself.

Setting up your budget

Setup asks for a few basics, then you add your bills.

Days you get paidFor example 1, 16 or 15, 30. A 31 means the last day of shorter months.
Income per paydayYour usual take-home. You can change any single payday later.

Bills, debts and one-time expenses

Add them in Bills Set up bills Add a bill. Each one is paid from a payday you choose: the 1st, the 16th, or every payday.

Regular billRepeats every month on its payday: rent, internet, subscriptions, groceries. Add a due day to place it on the right date in the calendar, and optional start and end dates.
Debt or installmentEnter the payment each time and how much you still owe. Payments stop by themselves when it's paid, and the last one is only what's left.
One timeA single expense on a date. It comes out of the payday on or before that date.
A debt

You owe ₱23,000 and pay ₱10,000 from every 1st. Kompyut plans ₱10,000, ₱10,000 and then ₱3,000, and shows when it ends.

Debts can also be added and changed in Overview Debts.

The bills checklist

Bills Checklist shows every bill for the month, grouped by the payday that pays it, with its due date. Tick a bill when you pay it. Paid bills stay on the list so you can see the whole month.

  • A different amount this time? Click the amount. Before you pay, it changes that payday's amount, like a credit card or pay-later bill that changes every month. After you pay, it records what you actually paid.
  • Not paid yet from earlier months shows bills you haven't ticked from before.
  • Left after this payday is what's left once that payday's bills and personal spending are taken out. It carries over to the next payday.

To enter the income that actually came in, tap Change next to the payday's money in.

Your daily limit and warnings

The Today card shows how much you can still spend today. It's worked out from:

  1. the personal spending you haven't used this payday, plus
  2. any money left over that later paydays don't need,

shared equally over the days until your next payday, in whole pesos.

Example

₱1,500 of personal spending and ₱1,036 that no later payday needs, with 13 days to go: ₱2,536 ÷ 13 = ₱195 a day.

Why only "money later paydays don't need"? Some paydays spend more than they bring in. If a payday ahead is short by ₱1,657, that much of today's money is kept for it.

The limit changes with what you spend. Spend less today and the days after get more. Spend more and they get less.

₱115 leftYou're within today's limit.
₱80 overOver today's limit, but the payday is still fine. Tomorrow's limit drops.
StopYour spending has made a payday ahead go below zero. The card says which one.

The same warning appears under Add expense as soon as you log something that goes over.

Good to know. The limit only knows about the expenses you log. If you don't log anything, the budget assumes you spent your personal spending for that payday.

The calendar and other views

Overview Calendar shows each day: money in (green), bills on their due date (grey), what you spent (red) and your limit for the day (blue). Click a day to see its details, the money you'd have at the end of it, and to add an expense. Days ahead assume you spend exactly your limit.

PaydaysEvery payday ahead with money in, money out and what's left. A warning shows if one would go below zero.
DebtsWhat you owe, payments left, and when each debt ends.
This yearMoney in, bills and personal spending for the year, and what's left at the end of it.

Income from Kompyut Pay

If you use Kompyut Pay on the same phone or computer, in the same browser, the budget can fill in each payday's income from it. Turn it on in Settings Use my take-home from Kompyut Pay and choose:

Only payslips I've entered thereA payday uses your payslip's take-home once you enter it in Payslip check. Paydays without one use your planned income.
Also its expected take-homePaydays ahead use Kompyut Pay's expected take-home, including holidays, logged overtime and your 13th month.

A payday pays the cutoff that ended just before it: the 16th pays the 1st to 15th, and the 1st pays the 16th to the end of the month before. You can always type a different amount with Change.

Backups and your budget data

Your budget is saved only on your device, in your browser. Nobody else can see it, and it doesn't sync between your phone and computer.

Download a backup in Settings Backup & restore and keep it somewhere private. Kompyut reminds you when your last backup is two weeks old. To move to another device, restore that file there with Restore from a file….

Good to know. The budget backup is separate from your Kompyut Pay backup. Keep both if you use both.
