Monthly-paid employees don't lose pay on holidays they don't work. Their salary already covers them.
Daily-paid employees are paid for an unworked regular holiday if they were present, or on paid leave, on the work day before it. You can turn this off in Settings › Overtime & premium rules › More options.
Holiday lists and official sources
These are the holidays built into Kompyut, with links to the official source for each. Holidays on your scheduled work days are treated as days off unless you log that you worked.
Philippines: set every year by presidential proclamation, usually released around September for the next year. Holidays with moving dates, like Eid'l Fitr and Eid'l Adha, get their own proclamation closer to the date, and Kompyut adds them once announced.
Client countries: calculated by rule for any year. Kompyut shows the day off employees actually get, so a holiday that falls on a weekend moves to the nearest weekday, marked "(observed)".
State and territory holidays (like Labour Day or Melbourne Cup) vary, so add yours as a local holiday if your client observes it.

Following a client country's holidays
Many BPO and VA workers get their client's holidays off instead of Philippine ones. In Settings › Holiday calendar, choose:

Client holidays are paid days off. If you work one, it's paid at your regular holiday rate.
Kompyut then asks how Philippine holidays work for you, since you usually work them as normal:
Yes, holiday rates: you work, and get Philippine holiday premiums.
No, normal pay: Philippine holidays are ignored.
Good to know. By law, employees who work a Philippine regular holiday are owed at least 200%, even if the company follows a client calendar. Check your payslip.
Skipping or adding a holiday
Your company doesn't give a holiday? Untick it in Settings › Holiday calendar.
A holiday is missing? Local holidays (like your city's founding day) and newly declared ones can be added two ways:
Open the day and tap Is this a holiday? Add it.
Or go to Settings › Holiday calendar › Add a local or newly-declared holiday.
Night shifts that run into a holiday
Say your shift starts at 10 PM the night before a regular holiday and ends at 7 AM on the holiday. Which rate do the hours after midnight get?
It depends on your company. Choose in Settings › Overtime & premium rules › More options:
Part of the day the shift started
The whole shift is paid as the day it started (an ordinary day here). Most payrolls do this.
The holiday (split at midnight)
10 PM to 12 AM is paid as an ordinary day, and 12 AM to 7 AM at holiday rates.
The same works in reverse: a shift that starts on a holiday and ends the next day.
